Chapter 5. Monks and Monasteries

Recognition of the Monastery of St. Anthony, Germany

Original Arabic Text

The Committee had recommended last year to recognise this monastery after examining all matters related to the possibility of this, but His Holiness the Pope observed wisely that a separation fence should be established between the areas of the spiritual centre and the large Church that His Holiness consecrated which serves visitors to the monastery, and between the area of the monks’ cells and their private church, to prevent monks from mixing with visitors. This was implemented.

His Grace Bishop Theodosius, the General Bishop of Giza, visited this monastery and presented a report that what was requested by His Holiness the Pope that this had already been implemented. This monastery has a great position in central Europe. It also has a spiritual cultural centre and a branch of the seminary. His Holiness the Pope agreed to establish it, and he published details of it and its activities in El-Keraza magazine.

This monastery has been recognized.
