Recognition of the Monastery of St. Pachom, Edfu

Concerning the Monastery of St. Pachom, Edfu, Aswan Governorate, based on the report submitted by His Grace Bishop Hedra, the importance of recognising this monastery as one of the monasteries of the Coptic Orthodox Church became clear to the Synod for monasticism for men and to restore monastic life to this monastery. This is particularly because there are no monasteries in the name of St. Pachom in our church except this monastery. The Holy Synod issued an official document recognising this monastery, signed by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III and His Grace Bishop Yoanes, Bishop of Gharbeya, Secretary of the Holy Synod and other members of the Synod, on today’s date, 26/03/1980.
