Head covering requirements for priests

  1. The Synod decided that all married priests must adhere to the priestly crown [head covering], except in the case of his presence at home, so that he can wear whatever he wants on his head.
  2. The Holy Synod also decided that married priests should wear the taylasana, not the crown that resembles the crown of the bishop or the veil, while serving the Divine Liturgy. This was decided that on the basis that the taylasana is not a cover for the head, but rather it is like the turban of Aaron and like the crown of priesthood, whereas the veil has become like a cover for the head that does not agree with the teaching of St. Paul the Apostle that a man should not cover his head when he prays.
