Amendment to text of Gospel of Feasts of the Entry of the Lord into the Temple and Circumcision

In the reading of the Feast of the Entry of the Lord Christ into the Temple (8 Amshir), which is the same as the Gospel reading in the Feast of the Circumcision (6 Toba), the current editions of the Lectionary state that Simeon the Elder said to the Lady Virgin, “and you too, a sword of doubting will pierce your soul also” (c.f. Luke 2:35). Having researched the original Greek and the Coptic translation of the 4 gospels, there is no mention of the word “doubting”. Therefore, the Committee recommended: the deletion of the word “doubt”, [the deletion of] which should be observed in the new prints so that it now states as follows: “and you too, a sword will pierce your soul also”.
