Amendments to the text of the Rite of Prostration

The Holy Synod agreed to remove the following 3 expressions from the Rite of Prostration [service], which are in the litanies of Third Prayer:

1. And also release and transfer it to that place”.
2. Those who are in Hades, for we have the glory of hope for the sake of all broken people who are in all pain and”.
3. For the dead do not bless you nor those who are in Hades confess you publicly, but rather we the living”.

His Holiness the Pope commented on the text that was removed from the third litany of the Rite of Prostration because the transfer from Hades to Paradise is not possible after the completion of redemption and the transfer of those whom the Lord Christ transferred at the time of the completion of redemption. Therefore, transference was only possible in relation to the saints of the Old Testament, and does not apply to those who come after them in the New Testament.
