Chapter 3. Formation of the Sub-Committees of the Holy Synod

The need for Sub-Committees

Original Arabic Text

Some of the Permanent Committees of the Holy Synod have formed sub-committees in order to expand the scope of their activities and services, such as the Pastoral Care and Services Committee which to date has 21 sub-committees. The Faith, Education and Legislative Committee has formed a sub-committee named The Committee for the Review of Religious Books, and another sub-committee named The Committee for the Review of Spiritual Songs and Artistic Works (see page 183). These committees were formed pursuant to Article 35 of the Principle Constitution of the Holy Synod which states that:

“Each committee of the Holy Synod has the right to seek assistance, within the remit of its fields, from experts and specialists external to the membership of the Holy Synod. These individuals will not be considered formal members of the committee.”
