Chapter 5. Monks and Monasteries

Deposition of the former monk, Daniel El Baramousi

Original Arabic Text

Regarding the monk, Daniel El Baramousi, who was deposed [of monasticism]:

a.     The Synod meeting file contains a full report on this topic.

b.     His Holiness informed those in attendance [at the meeting] that this person has abandoned the monastic head covering, and he is traveling abroad, by invitation from the Societies of Salvation of Souls, Protestants and some followers.

c.     Some people requested that this report be published in the diaspora, translated into English, so His Holiness promised to send copies of it there. His Holiness made it clear that he explained the subject in America, and they saw a tape recording showing the deviations of this person (he prays for some people and they fall to the ground unconscious). More than sixty priests of the countries of diaspora signed a statement of deprivation, as His Holiness the Pope said that this person holds gatherings to break bread, and says I believe that the Holy Spirit comes, to turn the bread into the Body of the Lord.

d.     The report attached to the file is a reference to the monk Daniel El Baramousi (Edwar Isaac) being deposed, so that everyone knows the fact that he is not Orthodox.
