Plans for HH Pope Shenouda's Golden Jubilee

The Holy Synod approved the report and recommendations of the Monasteries Committee as follows:

First:

1. On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the monasticism of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, the Committee congratulates His Holiness, as His Holiness is the spiritual father of successive generations of the monks of our Church. His Holiness stimulated the contemporary monastic, urban and pastoral revival. The number of monasteries of monks more than doubled during the lifetime of His Holiness inside and outside Egypt, and there is more to come, God willing.
2. In celebration of this precious occasion, a ceremony will be held in the monastery of St. Bishoy on the evening of Saturday 17/07/2004, after the Seminar of the Holy Synod, which will be held on the morning of the same day, God willing. On Sunday morning, 18/07, His Holiness the Pope will perform a Liturgy in the Monastery of the Virgin Mary known as the Syrian (where His Holiness became a monk on this day, and in this monastery). After the Liturgy an aghapy ceremony will be held in the monastery garden. On the evening of the same day (Sunday), the Church celebrates this blessed feast at the Great Cathedral of St. Mark, St. Rewis in Cairo. The distribution of words will be taken into account in these three paragraphs of the program.

Second:

On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the monasticism of His Holiness the Pope, the booklet that includes the decrees of the Holy Synod regarding the monasteries and monasticism (in the lifetime of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III) is to be printed. This will be after its completion and categorisation, with each historical decree appended. His Grace Bishop Kyrillos Ava Mina has offered that St. Mina Monastery can print this book.
